Placed into the New World.
There are old orchards where fallen fruit is never gathered after dusk.
The first windfalls of autumn are said to mark the point at which the orchard begins keeping its own account. Fruit found beneath the trees before morning may be taken. Fruit heard falling after dark is best left where it lies.
The Guild records the Windfall Ghosts as appearing shortly after the first fruit drops, most often between the outer rows where the grass has grown long. They are rarely seen arriving. By morning they are simply there, standing among the fallen apples as though they have been counting them.
Whether they guard the orchard, claim its offerings, or merely wait for something else to arrive has never been established.
Vargrim is most often recorded after the orchard has fallen still, when the wind has passed and the last shaken fruit lies scattered beneath the trees.
Several Guild accounts place him beside apples that have fallen unusually far from their branches, though the grass between remains undisturbed. In one entry, three pieces of fruit were found beyond the orchard wall despite no opening being found in the hedge.
He is regarded as a keeper of the carried harvest. Where Vargrim appears, the older records advise counting what has fallen before anything is gathered, for the orchard is not always careful about keeping its belongings within its own boundaries.
Vargrim the ghost figurine stands at 9 cm in height.
