There are old orchards where fallen fruit is never gathered after dusk.

The first windfalls of autumn are said to mark the point at which the orchard begins keeping its own account. Fruit found beneath the trees before morning may be taken. Fruit heard falling after dark is best left where it lies.

The Guild records the Windfall Ghosts as appearing shortly after the first fruit drops, most often between the outer rows where the grass has grown long. They are rarely seen arriving. By morning they are simply there, standing among the fallen apples as though they have been counting them.

Whether they guard the orchard, claim its offerings, or merely wait for something else to arrive has never been established.

Iskeld is recorded as a quiet and evasive presence, most often noted at the edges of storehouses, orchard walls, and weathered boundary places where one season seems to give way to the next without announcement.

In the older accounts, he is described as pale at first glance, easily overlooked in dim light, yet marked by concealed traces of ember-rust and dark smoke that emerge only when he shifts position. For this reason, several Keepers refer to him as a hiding spirit: one who reveals very little immediately, but is seldom as simple as he first appears.

He is associated with the held breath before change becomes obvious; the hour when the air cools, the leaves have not yet fully turned, and yet something in the land has already decided the matter.
