The Windfall Ghost Figurine - Crispin
The Familiars do not belong to the guild. Not exactly.
They were never apprenticed, never sworn in, never given a merchant's mark. They simply... arrived. As cats do. And having arrived, they stayed. As cats do.
They learned the rhythms of the guild; the long hours, the careful work, the particular silence of a room where old things are being recorded. And they decided this was acceptable.
They are not catalogued in the Merchant's Ledger.
They are aware of this. They have opinions about it that they have chosen not to share.
Crispin is most often recorded after dusk, when the fallen fruit can no longer be distinguished clearly from the shadows beneath the trees.
Several Guild accounts describe him appearing beside apples that were overlooked during the day’s gathering, particularly those lying beneath the darkest branches. By morning, the fruit remains where it fell, though the grass around it is often pressed flat as if something has kept watch there through the night.
He is regarded as a keeper of the uncollected harvest. Where Crispin settles, the older records advise leaving one windfall behind when the baskets are carried home, lest the orchard believe nothing has been returned to it.
Crispin the ghost cat figurine stands at 5 cm in height.
