Not all ghosts arrive with ceremony. The Nordic Ghost Merchants have kept this registry for generations and sometimes, without warning or announcement, a ghost simply appears. The guild does not question it. The merchant records it. Those who find them were always meant to.
Timian arrived unannounced on a Sunday in early spring. The merchant was pressing creeping thyme into new ground, when they looked up and found him waiting. He had not knocked. He had not sent word. He was simply there, as ghosts sometimes are; bold where he was expected to be pale, storm coloured where he was expected to be soft. The guild recorded him. The merchant did not question it.
