Some are found already waiting upon the shelves, with no record of who placed them there or when they first appeared. The Merchants do not ask them to explain themselves. They are simply observed, named, and made available for placement when they appear ready.
Maja arrived marked in cream and deep rust, as though she had passed through a horizon of old brick and autumn earth on her way to the Repository. She has offered no explanation for the journey and appears to consider the matter closed.
