The Samhain Harbinger Ghost Figurine - Obadiah

Obadiah is a handmade collectible Samhain Harbinger ghost figurine created by The Nordic Ghost Merchants in Denmark, inspired by autumn folklore, old seasonal traditions, and the travelling spirits recorded throughout Merchant accounts.

The Samhain Harbingers are travelling spirits of the turning season.

They arrive at the threshold between autumn and winter, when the evenings draw in, lanterns are lit earlier, and the old year begins to loosen its hold. 

They are not omens of misfortune.
They are witnesses to change, quiet reminders that seasons turn, darkness passes, and you have weathered every hard thing that came before them. 

They stand watch at the edge of the year, keeping their own counsel, carrying with them the hush of late autumn and the strange comfort of familiar shadows.

Obadiah is most often recorded at the edges of harvested fields in the final weeks before Samhain.

He appears when the ground has gone dark with evening damp and the last colour of the day sits low beneath a heavy grey sky.

Old Merchant notes describe him as unusually patient. He has been known to remain in one place long after the light has faded, watching empty field roads as though expecting someone who has not yet arrived.
