Thorne is a handmade collectible ghost figurine created by The Nordic Ghost Merchants in Denmark, inspired by the Jævndøgn Ghosts; equinox spirits preserved in Merchant folklore and old Repository accounts.

The Jævndøgn Ghosts are said to appear around the autumn equinox, when daylight and darkness briefly stand in balance and the first heavy morning fogs begin to settle across the Nordic landscape.

Their pale, mist-grey forms are crossed with wandering shades of berry, wine and darkened fruit colours remembered from hedgerows, fallen leaves and the last ripening things of the season. No two carry the markings in quite the same way.

Old accounts place their arrival in orchards, field margins and quiet roads shortly before dawn, where they are easiest to mistake for low fog until they begin to move.

Thorne carries finer, weathered traces of autumn colour, with faded berry-red markings running through the mist-grey surface like thorn branches seen through low fog. Darker lines gather across his middle and crown, giving him the look of something that has passed repeatedly through old hedgerows and come away carrying their shadows.

Merchant accounts associate ghosts of this kind with boundary hedges and narrow field paths around the equinox. They are said to appear where bramble, hawthorn and ageing fence lines divide one piece of land from another, particularly on mornings when the mist hangs low enough to obscure the way ahead.

Thorne the ghost figurine stands at just short of 8 cm in height.
