The Jævndøgn Ghosts - Asger
Asger is a handmade collectible ghost figurine created by The Nordic Ghost Merchants in Denmark, inspired by the Jævndøgn Ghosts; equinox spirits preserved in Merchant folklore and old Repository accounts.
The Jævndøgn Ghosts are said to appear around the autumn equinox, when daylight and darkness briefly stand in balance and the first heavy morning fogs begin to settle across the Nordic landscape.
Their pale, mist-grey forms are crossed with wandering shades of berry, wine and darkened fruit colours remembered from hedgerows, fallen leaves and the last ripening things of the season. No two carry the markings in quite the same way.
Old accounts place their arrival in orchards, field margins and quiet roads shortly before dawn, where they are easiest to mistake for low fog until they begin to move.
Asger carries long, weathered bands of muted autumn colour through his pale grey form, with darker lines gathering around his crown and trailing in broken layers across his sides. His markings recall old furrows and cart tracks seen through low equinox mist, where wet earth, fallen leaves and the last traces of berry-red vegetation blur together at first light.
Merchant records associate ghosts of this kind with harvested fields and forgotten farm roads shortly after dawn. They are said to follow the edges of old tracks where the ground has been pressed dark by rain, disappearing whenever the mist begins to lift from the open land.
Asger the ghost figurine stands at just short of 8 cm in height.
These are handmade ghost figurines created from hand-poured jesmonite. Each pour produces a completely unique pattern.
