Tansy is a handmade collectible Familiar figurine created by The Nordic Ghost Merchants in Denmark, inspired by the Familiars recorded throughout Merchant folklore and old Repository accounts.

Merchant folklore has never been entirely certain what to make of the Familiars.

They do not belong to the Guild. Not exactly.

They were never apprenticed, never sworn in, never given a merchant’s mark. According to the oldest Repository accounts, they simply… arrived. As cats do. And having arrived, they stayed.

They learned the rhythms of the Guild; the long hours, the careful work, the particular silence of a room where old things are being recorded. And they decided this was acceptable.

They are not entered into the Merchant’s Ledger as members of the Guild.

They are aware of this.

They have opinions about it that they have chosen not to share.

The Jævndøgn Familiars are most often associated with hedgerows, orchards and field margins around the autumn equinox, where berry dark colour remains beneath the first pale morning fogs.

Tansy is most often associated with old cottage gardens and forgotten herb plots, where cultivated plants have begun to wander beyond their original borders and autumn mist gathers low between the stems. Her markings are strongest around her crown and ears, fading into long berry-red traces through the pale grey below.

Merchant accounts describe her as a Familiar with a particular interest in places that have been left slightly untended. She is said to appear among overgrown paths, weathered garden walls and field-edge herbs shortly before dawn, inspecting whatever has survived the turning season with the grave attention of something that considers the entire plot to be under her supervision.

Tansy the ghost cat figurine stands at 5 cm in height.
