The Heliost Ghost Figurine - Valo

Sale price245,00 kr

Midsummer in the Nordic lands is not only beautiful. It is watchful

The lyse nætter, the bright nights, bring a light that does not behave as it should. It lingers past midnight.  And the old ones knew that when the veil thins at midsummer, it does not thin toward the dead. It thins toward something older.

The Heliosts arrive with this long light. They come carrying the warmth of a sun that would not set, and a quiet knowledge they will not share. What they have witnessed in the spaces between dusk and a dawn that never truly came; this they keep

Even those who do not love the summer feel them.

The landvættir were offered gifts at midsummer. Small things. Tokens of acknowledgment. Perhaps the Heliosts are what answered.

Valo is the light that comes through old curtains in the late afternoon.

He is not the sun. He is what the sun leaves behind when it moves on; the warmth still held in stone walls, in wooden floors, in the particular gold that settles over everything in the hour before evening.

Valo arrives softly. He does not announce himself. You simply notice, at some point, that the room feels warmer than it should.
And you find you do not want to move.
Valo the ghost figurine stands at just short of 9 cm.
