The landvættir were offered gifts at midsummer. Small things. Tokens of acknowledgment. Perhaps the Heliosts are what answered.
Cyrus came from far away. He followed the long light north the way birds follow warmth south, drawn by something older than instinct. He has known midsummer in many lands. He has felt the veil thin in desert heat and mountain cold and the particular hush of a forest at solstice.
But he keeps coming back here. To the North. To the lyse nætter.
Something about the way the light refuses to leave feels like home to Cyrus, even though he has never quite been able to explain why.
