The Fantoms are keepers of laments and quiet things. They are watchers in the stillness; small spirits said to settle where a little company is needed. On shelves, beside books, upon altars and windowsills, they ask for very little beyond a place from which to quietly observe.

Handall is a steadfast Fantom, fond of thresholds, hallways, and the quiet places between one room and the next. He has a habit of settling where he can keep watch over the comings and goings of a household, though no one has ever appointed him to the task.

The laments Handall carries are long ones, but he bears them without fuss. He seems happiest simply knowing where everyone is, and having a small place among them when they return.
