Svanhild is marked by a single long fracture of darkness, with one side of her form worn pale and the other freckled by years of frost. She is often found near thresholds, particularly those of houses that have stood through more winters than anyone remembers. Svanhild does not guard the door. She merely remains there, patient enough to see what lasts.
