It finds the cracks in stone and widens them. It strips bark from trees. It takes what was whole and reminds it, patiently and without malice, that nothing lasts forever.

The Eldritch are ghosts of that patience. Of centuries of Scandinavian winters leaving their mark on everything they touched.

They are not frightening. They are simply very, very old.

Percival is said to have lingered where frost worked beneath the surface of exposed stone.

Each winter loosened another thin layer. Each thaw carried away a little of what had once seemed permanent.

Percival bears the places where the stone finally gave way.
