Bronte bears the long, uneven marks of winter winds, darkened where sleet and drifting snow struck her year after year. She is drawn to exposed hillsides, roof ridges and the corners of barns where the wind makes itself heard all night. Bronte does not resent the storm. She simply prefers to stand where it has no choice but to pass around her.
