The Familiars do not belong to the guild. Not exactly.

They were never apprenticed, never sworn in, never given a merchant's mark. They simply... arrived. As cats do. And having arrived, they stayed. They learned the rhythms of the guild; the long hours, the careful work, the particular silence of a room where old things are being recorded. And they decided this was acceptable.

They are not catalogued in the Merchant's Ledger.

They are aware of this. They have opinions about it that they have chosen not to share.

Vlad is said to favour the highest shelves, where winter cold settles first and leaves dark traces against the old timber.

He has been found there at dawn, watching frost gather along the windows without moving.

Attempts to relocate him have been unsuccessful.

Vlad was returned to the same shelf shortly afterwards.

No one admits to doing so.
