The Familiars do not belong to the guild. Not exactly.

They were never apprenticed, never sworn in, never given a merchant's mark. They simply... arrived. As cats do. And having arrived, they stayed. They learned the rhythms of the guild; the long hours, the careful work, the particular silence of a room where old things are being recorded. And they decided this was acceptable.

They are not catalogued in the Merchant's Ledger.

They are aware of this. They have opinions about it that they have chosen not to share.

Orson is rarely found where he was last seen.

He is not known to make a sound.
He does not announce himself.
He simply appears elsewhere, usually beside something long ignored, poorly sealed, or best left unopened.

On one occasion, Orson was discovered seated beside a ledger believed lost for over a century.

Ambrose maintains this was coincidence.
