The Chronicler Familiar - Smudge

Smudge is a handmade collectible Chronicler Familiar ghost cat figurine, poured, airbrushed, hand painted and engraved by The Nordic Ghost Merchants in Denmark.

The Familiars do not belong to the guild. Not exactly.

They were never apprenticed, never sworn in, never given a merchant's mark. They simply... arrived. As cats do. And having arrived, they stayed. As cats do. They learned the rhythms of the guild; the long hours, the careful work, the particular silence of a room where old things are being recorded. And they decided this was acceptable.

They are not catalogued in the Merchant's Ledger.

They are aware of this. They have opinions about it that they have chosen not to share.

The Chronicler Cats have been in the guild longer than anyone can verify. They remember things that were never written down. They will not be writing them down either.

They simply watch. They simply know.

And they are, on occasion, available.

Smudge has appointed himself Assistant Keeper of Ink.

His principal duty appears to involve inspecting freshly written entries before they have dried, usually by stepping directly across them.

Several important records now bear small black marks that cannot be removed.

Smudge considers these annotations.

The Chroniclers do not.
