Kattegat Ghost - Viggo
The Kattegat is not a kind sea. It is the strait between Denmark and Sweden where the North Sea meets the Baltic. It's a place of cold currents and old memories. Fishermen who worked these waters did not speak of what they saw beneath the surface. They did not need to. The sea remembers on their behalf.
The Kattegat Ghosts carry that water in them. Each one formed in the colours of an untamed Scandinavian Sea; pale fog, dark storms and the blue-grey of a sky that hasn't seen the sun in weeks. They arrived without warning. They may not stay.
Viggo has never stayed anywhere long enough to be considered a permanent resident, including the Kattegat. He arrives, he is noted, and then one morning he is simply elsewhere. Nobody sees him leave. The other spirits have stopped being surprised by this. There is always a space on the shore that might be his, or might recently have been, or might be again shortly. He considers this freedom. The others consider it exhausting. Viggo does not mind either way. He is already halfway to somewhere else.
