Kattegat Ghost - Runa

The Kattegat is not a kind sea. It is the strait between Denmark and Sweden where the North Sea meets the Baltic. It's a place of cold currents and old memories. Fishermen who worked these waters did not speak of what they saw beneath the surface. They did not need to. The sea remembers on their behalf.  

The Kattegat Ghosts carry that water in them. Each one formed in the colours of an untamed Scandinavian Sea; pale fog, dark storms and the blue-grey of a sky that hasn't seen the sun in weeks. They arrived without warning. They may not stay.

Runa does not speak. She listens. She has been listening since before the fishing villages had names, collecting the quiet things people say at the water's edge when they think no one can hear. She keeps every word. She has never told a soul. She never will.
