There is something that moves through the Nordic forests on Beltane morning before the world remembers it is waking.

Not wind exactly. Not memory exactly.

The guild called them The Drifting...

The guild called them The Drifting. The ones who linger on Beltane morning, when the veil between worlds grows thin as mist and the dandelion releases its seeds like small pale wishes into air that cannot decide if it belongs to night or day.

They are not lost. Not exactly.

They are between. As all things are, on Beltane.

The last merchant found them waiting in the treeline, patient as fog, trailing the ghost of a dandelion clock that had already told its final hour. They had been drifting since the guild scattered. Since the Reformation took everything.

They remembered being found.

They chose to stay.
